Cape Town Events in December 2011



Are you looking for great Cape Town events in December? Then have a good look at my events calendar and see what’s on in Cape Town this month. I am sure you will find many exciting events happening in the Mother City in December, you will love to join.

And you will love the great food in season. In December you can enjoy a great day out in the countryside to do some cherry picking or for joining in the apricot harvest and get tasty cherries and apricots or pick blueberries which are in season now too. The fresh local produce will make for a very special and delicious Christmas feast if you are used to celebrating the holidays in the colder climates.

• Cape Town, Artscape Theatre: The Phantom of the Opera. Until January 15, 2011. The longest running broadway musical can be seen now in Cape Town during the festive season. Tickets: From R125. More info.

• Cape Town:eMzantsi Festival. December 3, 2011. Celebrating people and cultures at the Southern Cape Peninsula. Carnival Parade at Ou Kaapse Weg, Fishhoek between 10am and 3pm.

• Franschhoek: Cap Classique and Champagne Festival. December 2 – 4, 2011. Champagne, Strawberries, Oysters, what could you wish for more;). Tickets for champagne tasting sessions R180. More info.

• Cape Town, Clifton 4th Beach: Wavescape Film Festival on Big Screen. December 9, 2011. Join the crowds at this Splendid Cape Town beach which was voted one of Cape Town’s Blue Flag Beaches.

• Cape Town, Artscape Theatre: Coppelia. December 16 - 24, 2011. Popular ballet performed by Cape Town City Ballet. Tickets: From R100. More info.

• Cape Town, Woodstock: Mother City Queer Project (MCQP). December 18, 2011 at the Cape Town International Convention Center CTICC. Party with this year’s theme: Maid in China. Tickets from R220. More info.

• Cape Town, CBD: Christmas Celebrations. Festival Eucharist of Christmas Day. December 25, 2011. With Orchestra performing the Mass in G by Franz Schubert. St Georges Cathedral at 10am.

• Cape Town, Sea Point: Festival of the Chariot. December 26, 2011. East meets West in this exotic festival. Watch the colorful floats parade in Sea Point Civic Hall departing from 12.30pm. TBC.

• Cape Town, Kirstenbosch Gardens: New Year’s Eve Concert, December 31, 2011. The place to welcome the new year in Cape Town. Tickets: R250.
